Ripley’s Aquarium has a wide array of sea-going animals that will captivate your family’s attention and give you a broader perspective of the incredible planet we share with all of these creatures. Sea-going turtles, sharks, penguins, stingrays and a huge variety of fish swim over and around you, as you stand on the moving walkway through the giant tank the fish inhabit!

Ripley’s in the Smokies, offers special programs for all homeschooled students, such as a walkup discount at $10.99+tax/person for teaching parents, homeschool children and immediate siblings in the same household. They require that you provide either a letter of intent, attendance record, or homeschool ID card at the admission windows in order to receive this discount.

But it is worth it. Ripley’s offers an exciting array of aquarium activities including the Penguin Encounter, where you can interact with these cute and interesting animals and create a Penguin “Pollock” Painting; Touch-a-Ray Bay, where you can get right into the water and swim with these unusual “flying” sea creatures, native to the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico. You can also take a Behind-the-Scenes Tour with a staff member, to see how the aquarium monitors the water salinity and quality, provides food for the various inhabitants and keeps everything swimming along!

Ripley’s also has a number of different Summer Camp experiences – all day or overnight — for children ranging from ages 4-13. These camps provide science experiments and activities, including a sleep-over in the Shark Lagoon.
